«Say Fajji» .. Libyan myth defies gossip

The folk tale does not usually bear the character of holiness, and it stands in its subjects at the limits of daily life and ordinary worldly matters. It defines the conflict between good and evil, angel, devil, elves, sprites, man, evil witch, beautiful girl, knight and knight. What a happy ending.

Therefore, these stories were not just for entertainment and filling the vacuum, but were used to root out some of the customs and traditions that are common in society, to forbid what is not in line with them, to take the sermon and the lesson, in the simple and simple way of intimidation and seduction that is rooted in the memory of children since the beginning of their awareness and formation of their consciousness. With them to form part of the stock of their memory and to inherit it generation after generation.

This story ends the exposure to the symptoms of people, and away from backbiting and gossip.

It is said that there was a woman who was tireless and never tired of the news of neighbors, in addition to exaggerating the stories, and fabrication in line with satisfying her desire to gossip only, and every morning she was preparing breakfast for her husband keen to come to him with a new story, It has «say Fajji», (a phrase circulated in colloquial and meant to pretend to cover people and expose them), but never ceased its bad habit

.

On one occasion, the wife was returning from the market. She felt that she wanted to spend her time, but she found no solution but to enter an abandoned place. By chance, the place had two doors and every door had a street. They came out of a door at the same time, and there were some passers-by saw them, and the news spread in the village, that it is related to this person.

The story came to her husband, who sat with his wife the next day. He said to her: "Did you hear what neighbors are saying about the relationship between one of our neighbors married to our widowed neighbor, who lives in the other neighborhood, and that they meet surreptitiously away from the eyes in the distant ruins? They were seen by one of the neighbors yesterday after the market was finished and they were getting out of it at the same time, but each of them had a different door. "

Immediately the wife linked the story with what happened with her the previous day, and learned that they talk about it, and that people began to slander and say it without confirming the information, and felt the extent of injustice, which was signed by her husband and prevented him from completing his speech, It is possible that the story is pure slander, and that the presence of the two people together in the same place is a coincidence.

She said to him: «Say al-Faji», what was the husband only left the food and ask her to ask whether you are that lady, and tears began to flow from her eyes and she swore that what happened not as expected from the witness, and told him what happened with them in detail.

The husband told her that he believed her and that this is a lesson for her not to talk about people behind their backs, and not to taunt anyone and do not promote rumors.

The wife split that she would not do everything she used to do in the past, and she would not repeat what she heard even if the information was confirmed, adding: "O my eye and my lies, what is the matter of what is Ritesh?" Meaning even if someone sees something and knows that if he talked about it, Causing problems for others must be silent, let alone who did not see anything.

The husband convinced her and decided to forgive her, but he told her that they no longer had to stay in their village, because people would not forget the story and would keep repeating it for years to come even without ascertaining its credibility.
Since that time, the wife and her husband have lived a calm and stable life without any backbiting or gossip about anything, and no longer speaks only about her condition.
